Interesting Cultural Phenomenon:
In Japan, many people claim that they could never give up alcohol because the culture is that their drinking business associates could no longer trust them, as alcohol loosens people up and you wouldn't be able to pull one over on them, or something like that.
Well, interestingly enough, I feel like a similar phenomenon exists here in the US.  Drinkers don't like to hang out with non-drinkers.  I don't know that the reasoning is the same or similar, and don't really understand it, but I do feel like the situation is true.
